Lt Oosthuizen said: “We were delighted to take part in this
event for SSAFA, which we know undertakes such vital work for service
personnel and their families in Wiltshire.”
The aim of the Team Help Run was to raise the profile of SSAFA
locally and to recruit more volunteer Case Workers and Friends.
With a large number of military bases in the Swindon area, there
are many present and former service personnel and their families
who have settled there.
SSAFA committee chairman Alan Jones, said: “This was the
first time we have sponsored a team event in the Swindon Half Marathon.
Although the number of entries was modest, we believe it has excellent
potential for achieving our objectives and certainly plan to continue,
or even extend, our team sponsorship next year.”
