Philip West, 77, served in the Royal Navy for many years. He lives with his wife, Marie, in Moredon, Swindon. Following a major knee operation, he found it impossible to get up and down stairs. A Case Worker from SSAFA visited the Mr West and completed a detailed assessment of his needs.

As a result, an electric stair lift has been purchased and installed, together with a ramp outside the house, to facilitate wheelchair access.

Mr West said: “ The stair lift is just fantastic. As our bedrooms and bathroom are upstairs, we would have had to move all these downstairs. My wife and I cannot thank SSAFA enough for all their kindness and help.”
