Josephine Offord.

Mrs Offord, 82, lives in Lower Stratton, Swindon. Her late husband served during World War 2 in the Royal Tank, Queen’s, Somerset Light Infantry and Wiltshire Regiments. She recently underwent a triple heart bypass operation, and endured further surgery for replacement hip and knee joints. She also suffers from rheumatism, which further impaired her mobility.

Following visits from SSAFA Case Workers, a full assessment was undertaken and funds were sought and received from a total of five separate service benevolent funds, which enabled the purchase of a mobility scooter. This has enabled Mrs Offord to collect her pension at the local post office, go shopping and even visit local friends and neighbours.

Mrs Offord said: “The scooter has been an absolute godsend. I just cannot explain how it has transformed my life. I’m just so grateful to SSAFA for their help.”
